Are Plumbers Truly Unhappy?

Plumbers are often seen as one of the least contented careers in the United States. At CareerExplorer, a survey of millions of people revealed that plumbers rate their professional happiness 2.8 out of 5 stars, which places them in the lowest 18% of careers. Many people view plumbing as a non-specialty profession or a dirty job. However, plumbing is much more than just dealing with clogged toilets and sinks. The plumbing industry is essential for modern life, as more and more buildings are being constructed and problems with drainage, sewage systems, and pipes arise.

Plumbers must install plumbing systems in new buildings, as well as regularly repair and maintain these systems. Contrary to popular belief, plumbers are actually some of the happiest professionals in the country according to a survey conducted by Boundless. Up to 55% of plumbers said they were “very happy” in life, while not a single plumber reported being unhappy in their work.
